The YPT230 Package contains everything you need to get started; including a Pair of Closed-Cup Headphones, a Single-Braced X-style Keyboard Stand, and a Power Supply.
The YPT230 offers pure playing pleasure for both beginners and experienced players. It features 385 natural sounding voices, including stereo grand piano, 371 XGlite voices, 13 drum kits, and a sound effect kit. The YPT-230 also has 100 accompaniment styles and 102 built-in songs. The keyboard has a rich Reverb effect that adds concert-hall ambience to any performance.
Use the Portable Grand button to instantly call up an authentic stereo grand piano sound. One dedicated button brings up a great sounding piano, stunningly rich and authentic in its sound and exceptionally responsive to your playing touch, as well as setting up the keyboard to play as a piano.
In addition to the 102 songs mentioned above, the YPT230 also has auto accompaniment styles that follow your playing. Simply select a style of music from the 100 built-in Styles (example Rock), play a single note or chord on the left side of the keyboard and play your melody on the right side. The YPT230 will create a backup band (bass, drums, strings, guitar etc.) and follow you through the song. You can play your songs and try different genres of music. It's both fun and entertaining.
The music pathway to your computer and the Internet is MIDI. It's the way that keyboards communicate with computers. And because the YPT230 is both General MIDI (GM) and XGlite compatible, you have access to thousands of MIDI song files on the Internet.

I love to play Bach and other baroque composers, so since they wrote for harpsichord and fortepiano (fewer keys than modern pianos), I can play everything they wrote on this 61-key Yamaha right here in my tiny apartment. This model has all the rhythm choices and instrument voices you could want without being so automatic that it feels like a toy. The headphones are a bonus when there's ambient city noise or it's late at night. Other reviewers had difficulty with the stand, but they must have assembled it incorrectly. The keyboard is designed to rest atop the crossbars, not fit into the stand in any way. Try sliding the rubber sleeve supports in or out on the crossbars to balance the keyboard properly atop the stand. Also, make sure you have the height adjuster knob facing away from you as you sit at the keyboard and that the wider ends of all crossbars are facing toward you (measure the screw-hole to end distance if you have to).
