It's good quality except for one big detail. He was supposed to have a pencil pouch that fit in his 3 ring binder, which is why we bought this one with the holes in it. However, the holes are mis-punched, so it only goes through two and it just can't quite make the third one. We kept it because it would have cost more to return it than not, so now he has a very nice pencil pouch flapping away inside his binder. I needed a pencil case that could hold a few basic items to make changing bags easier. For the price, this pouch is great! It feels very sturdy and has a nice amount of space. Right now, I have a few pens in the (very large) main compartment, post-its, mini stapler, paper clips, and a calculator in the other pockets. However, while I'm impressed with what it holds, how it holds the items leaves a lot to be desired. Be aware that two of the four pockets close with velcro. While that is not a huge problem for me (calculator and post-its in those areas), depending on what you are buying it for, that could become an issue. If you need most of your items in zippered pockets, get a different pouch. For the price and my needs, I'm quite happy with this and would recommend it if you're looking for something to hold the basics. I like the Mead better. Just to confirm what other reviewers have said, the holes do not line up with a standard three ring binder. If you don't intend to keep this in a binder, that shouldn't matter. You have to bunch it up to make it fit, and maybe my elementary school age son won't mind, but you might. Also, two of the four pockets are velcro, which I don't think is very secure, as kids tend to throw their school supplies around. The Mead has three pockets, all zippered. Also, the Mead is larger, and you can choose your color when you order. This one is less expensive, so if that is important to you, then this one is a better deal.
